Mamaroneck Welcomes Duck Donuts This Weekend

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about growing up in a small town, it’s that residents who leave tend to give back to the community that raised them.

That’s exactly what Bonnie and Dave Foncello have done with their sweetest venture, Duck Donuts, opening in Mamaroneck this past weekend. Having a personal tie to the area and compassion for the community that raised them is what influenced them to open the store.

“We grew up in the area and there isn’t anything else like this here. This place will really bring the community together,” states Bonnie Foncello. “You can really smile and feel comfortable here.”

As Bonnie points out the small step overlooking the donut creation station for the kids, It’s clear this venture will be quite the family hotspot. I mean how cool is it to watch your donuts being made right in front of you?

If you’re asking yourself where you’ve heard the name of this place before, I’d say you most likely have in a number of places. Averaging 116K followers on Instagram, this place makes quite a social imprint on the food blogging community. Their flagship location has even been featured on the Food Network.

Duck Donuts was founded in 2006 by Russ DiGilio who was on the search for a great doughnut shop in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Since opening its widely successful flagship location there, it’s since expanded across the country totaling about 90 franchises nationwide.

Offering a “duckzillion” options of flavors and toppings to choose from, this place creates made-to-order treats for even the pickiest eater. We tried some of their classic combos like chocolate and strawberry frosted with sprinkles as well as some of their specialty signature assortments. These include the Blueberry Pancake, Sunrise, S’mores and Bacon in the Sun donuts.

Not feeling a donut? Well there’s plenty of other menu items to try including customized sundaes and breakfast sandwiches served all day. Not to mention the ultimate donut pairing… coffee and specialty espresso drinks.

The team at Duck Donuts is eager and ready to get involved with the Westchester community. They have plans to volunteer with local schools and neighboring towns throughout the year. Bonnie expressed excitement in helping with fundraising events at school homecomings, offering the unique customization of donuts with their school colors.

They sure have enough swag to bring around to all of these events as well. You can grab a number of products like t-shirts, mugs and even rubber duckies to deck yourself out in the coolest gear.

You guys have to try this place to really understand what all the hype is about. I look forward to keeping in touch with the team over there and look forward to hearing about your experience with them!
